research based, child and family centered, culturally sensitive
therapeutic and educational services targeting the biological,
psychological, educational, social and emotional needs of children.
THE ARTS
Loveland Academy uses the art milieu both as a mental health
medium, and to promote pre-vocational skills. The art program is
very extensive and includes advanced instruction in painting,
drawing, multi-media and graphic art, taught by professional
artists.

from their education. Loveland “Puts It All Together” in a cohesive, seamless
bundle for children who need 1:1 attention in the areas of:

VOCATIONAL SKILLS
Loveland High School targets both academic and career skills. An
array of different career experiences is available to each student at
a variety of levels depending on the individual student’s abilities,
interests, and values.
                                      ACADEMICS
Loveland High School continually looks for opportunities that fit
the goals and objectives, mission, and values of its program and
its students’ abilities and interests. These may already exist in the
community or would be developed “in-house”, while community
based learning opportunities were being developed with area
merchants and business-owners. As always, parents are
expected to be full participants in developing these programs,
both with ideas and action. Students need to feel the quality and
quantity of parental support in their risk of venturing into new fields
and in their success when it is achieved.

By providing regularly scheduled family meetings and group team
meetings, with the availability of Loveland’s on campus
psychologist, social worker, two occupational therapists, two
COTA (Certified Occupational Therapy Aides), four speech and
language therapy staff, special education teachers, and
therapeutic aides, all of whom know and work with the students
as part of a trans-disciplinary team on a small, family-like
campus, Loveland High School communicates with and involves
family on an everyday basis.
The overall goal of Loveland Academy is to integrate the best aspects of
education, with the best practices of therapeutic treatment and to "Put It All
together" in a cohesive package for children who need 1:1 attention in the
areas of intensive behavioral teaching, positive behavior management, direct
therapy to increase cognitive social, emotional, play and communication
skills.
The program seeks to support increased global functioning through the
development of strong attention skills, strong social skills, self monitoring,
self regulation and coping strategies that allow children to move to less
restrictive environments over time.
