| Biopsychosocial Rehabilitation Program (BPSR) Purpose and Rational Loveland Academy’s CARF Accredited Biopsychosocial Rehabilitation Program (BPSR) has been under constant development and revision since its inception to align its clinical Model with the Theoretical Model from which it was derived. It has emerged as a comprehensive program, capable of addressing all children's mental health treatment objectives, regardless of age, diagnosis or ability. Goals Throughout its many revisions, it has retained the original three goals targeting the development of skills in the areas of socialization, communication and play in children who have learning disabilities, neuro-developmental disorders, social anxieties and phobias and autistic spectrum disorders. Design The program is designed to meet as many of the children's IEP goals as possible. Children's BPSR goals are extracted from both the Mental Health Treatment Plan and from the mental health goals written into the child's IEP. The program is part of the array of services provided by DOH/CAMHD and is referred to by code as 16301. The services must be written into the child's IEP, along with bus transportation to and from the program as needed. The program is designed to build skills in natural and appropriate contexts so that children will be able to generalize those skills to home, school and community. Consequently, children participate in their activities as if they were "clubs" reflecting a variety of special interests. Activities take place in classrooms and also during field trips into the community on a weekly basis. The program is designed for children between the ages of three and eighteen years. For some activities, children are grouped by age, for other activities, they are grouped by ability and/or interests. |
