fails to provide them with access to an appropriate education that meets their
learning needs."
(Dr. Maria Montessori)
Mission. As a service provider in Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii for children and young
adults with autism, the mission is to provide an array of state of the art, research
based, child and family centered, culturally sensitive therapeutic and educational
services targeting the biological, psychological, educational, social and emotional
needs of children.
Our Philosophy. As a service provider in Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii for children and
young adults with autism spectrum disorders and other neurodevelopmental
disorders, our philosophy is to "turn kids onto learning" by helping them discover,
then utilize their strengths and interest, to gain the necessary skills and knowledge
to live as productive, and enjoyable, a life as possible.
The overall goal as a service provider in Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii is to integrate the
best aspects of education, with the best practices of therapeutic treatment into a
cohesive package for children autism spectrum disorders and neurodevelopmental
disorders who need 1:1 attention in the areas of intensive behavioral teaching,
positive behavior management, direct therapy to increase cognitive, social,
emotional, play and communication skills.
The program seeks to support increased global functioning through the
development of strong attention skills, strong social skills, self monitoring, self
regulation and coping strategies that allow children to move to less restrictive
environments over time.
"Recent studies now suggest that if intensive behavior modification is started early
enough, before age four or five, perhaps as many as 50 percent of autistic children
may be able to improve sufficiently to attend public schools with normal peers, and
to have a reasonably bright outlook for the future."
(Dr. Bernard Rimland)
